The IDFA festival in Amsterdam, the largest documentary film festival in the world, will host in its 33rd edition the world premiere of ‘The First Woman‘, the latest film by Miguel Eek and the only Spanish film in competition.
Through Eva, a woman who, after leaving the psychiatric hospital, embarks on a quest to reunite with her son after fifteen years of silence, the film explores the meaning of ‘normality’ and presents the viewer with a raw and powerful story. Fascinated by the vitality and resilience of the protagonist, Miguel Eek conveys a story about second chances, the search for normality and the borderline between lucidity and darkness.

Co-produced by IB3 and with the support of the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics, the Consell de Mallorca and the Mallorca Film Commission, ‘The First Woman‘ will have its world premiere on Sunday 22 November in the First Appearance section along with 11 other international titles.
